Is TextMapIt free?
Yes. All core features — editing, preview, export, sharing — are completely free. No account required, no hidden fees.
Do I need to register?
No. TextMapIt works immediately without any sign-up. Open the site and start writing. Your content autosaves locally.
Where is my data stored?
Your data is stored in your browser's local storage only. No server-side storage for free-tier usage. Your data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers.
What formats can I export?
Four formats: PNG (2x resolution image), SVG (scalable vector), HTML (standalone interactive file), and Markdown (raw source). See the Export Guide for details on each format.
Can I share my mind map?
Yes. Click the Share button to generate a URL containing your mind map data. Anyone with the URL can view it. See the Share Guide for details.
Does it work on mobile?
TextMapIt is responsive and works on tablets and phones for viewing. However, the split-pane editing experience is optimized for desktop browsers with wider screens.
Is my data private?
Yes. All processing happens client-side in your browser. No server-side data collection. Shared URLs contain encoded content, so only share with trusted recipients.
What markdown features are supported?
Standard markdown (headings, lists, bold, italic, code blocks, links) plus custom extensions: color tags ({#color:name}), annotations (:: text), and separators (---). See the Syntax Guide for the full reference.
